About the Crannie
The Crannie is our community hub for residents of the Old Town. Located in Cranston Street off the Canongate, the Crannie is a busy place with many activities, gatherings, events and meetings.
It is a space for activities which we offer to Old Town residents. It is a space for gatherings of other community groups. It is a space for events held by outside organisations. It is a space for meetings of businesses, charities and others. Our rooms are available for hire, with discounts for locals, registered charities, not-for-profits and community groups.
Our own activities at the Crannie are free and open to residents of the Old Town. We welcome new groups, charities and businesses which are interested in the Crannie. Visit us during our opening hours!

Crannie venues
Our venues are available for hire by groups, charities, businesses and other organisations. They are rented by the hour, half day or full day. Discounts are offered to charities and Old Town residents.
Village Hall
The Crannie Village Hall is our largest venue. It holds up to 40 people theatre style. It can be set up for boardroom, cabaret or theatre formats.
Glass Room
The Crannie Glass Room is one of our meeting room venues. It holds up to 12 people boardroom style. It can be set up for boardroom or alternative formats.
Craft Room
The Crannie Craft Room is one of our meeting room venues. It holds up to 10 people boardroom style. It can be set up for cabaret or alternative formats.
Kitchen
The Crannie Kitchen is our commercial-style kitchen equipped with an oven, hob, refrigerator, crockery, glasses, utensils, preparation space and a dishwasher.
Visiting the Crannie
The Crannie is located in Cranston Street, accessible from either the Canongate or East Market Street. Its main entrance is the glass door with our sign above, closer to East Market Street. Another entrance is the wooden door to the Village Hall (when open and in use), closer to the Canongate.
Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 12pm to 5pm. Our venues can be hired outwith these hours, subject to scheduling and availability. Get directions to the Crannie or contact us for more information.
